一般社団法人 製造業AI普及協会はトップレベルの大学教員が結集し、日本の製造業の研究開発や製造プロセスにおいて、AIを活用するプロセスインフォマティクスを提唱、体系化し、これを全国の製造業企業に導入し、日本経済の底上げを図るべく研修の実施や共同研究を支援する団体です。
講師の沓掛健太朗先生（製造業ＡＩ普及協会理事、名古屋大学准教授）は、グローバルウェーハズ・ジャパン株式会社の永井勇太主事らと共同研究を実施し、機械学習を用いて、材料作製中に材料特性をリアルタイムで予測するシステムを開発しました。
その他にも様々な企業との共同研究を成功され、その中で、工学部出身の方が多い製造業のプロフェッショナルの方が、AIなどの情報科学の技術を理解するときに、共通の「つまづき」があることに気が付きました。

“The instructor works at a national research institute and, while researching cutting-edge AI applications, is also involved in assisting various manufacturing companies with the implementation of process informatics.
