This course is designed to help foreign-born (especially Indian) IT consultants be successful in the US corporate world.
To a foreign-born person, America can be a contradictory place to work. On the one hand, it is a friendly, casual and easy environment. But it is also ruthless and high-demanding, with no sympathy for the weak.
It is a complex and subtle working culture that is almost impossible for a new arrival to figure out. The unwritten rules can take a lifetime to understand.
Based on working with hundreds of Indian consultants over a 30-year period, it combines elements of emotional intelligence and consulting skills and is designed to lift the veil and explain these hidden rules. It provides a practical step-by-step framework, following the phases of a typical IT project.
The course contains an introduction, followed by five phases:
1. Preparation, that is understanding the basics of working here.
2. Meeting a client for the first time: just how important it is and exactly how to make a good first impression, remotely or in person.
3. Getting the lay of the land: how to best get an understanding of the technical and other aspects of your job: to find out what the priorities are and what’s really needed.
4. Requirements gathering: the best way to get the detailed information and requirements you need for your particular job.
5. Delivery: how to become a high-performing team member.
